Cette maison, agrandie au début du XXéme siècle, fut érigée primitivement sur un vaste domaine dans la seconde moitié du XVIIIème siècle. Elle se distingue notamment pour avoir été la maison familiale de Just Veillat (1813-1866), artiste peintre, homme politique et romancier. Il côtoyât Charles Baudelaire, Victor Hugo, Alexandre Dumas fils qui séjournèrent dans cette maison.

"Merveilleux lieu et merveilleuse hôtesse"
Nous avons passés un très bon séjour chez Madame Jambrun et nous ne pouvons que conseiller cette adresse à toutes les personnes ayant besoin de calme et d'intimité.

"Wonderful trip to chateauroux"
Stayed several days with mme jambrun in her charming old world chateau. short walk to all of downtown and everything it offers. Mme jambrun was a wonderful host and provided everything we could have asked for. grounds are beautiful for walking or just sitting. We were from the usa on holiday in france. i would highly recommend le colombier to anyone wishing to experience the charms of old world france.
